Chapter 2, The Egg from the Starry Sky
Fortune favors, this is a solitary mutated beast wandering at the edge of the jungle, dangerous yet not lethal. In its eyes, the blood and wounds on its body are far less significant than the several hundred kilograms of flesh lying on the ground
A weight of approximately 200 kilograms. Mu Fan stood up and glanced around, using the surrounding loose soil to extinguish the occasional sparks that flickered from the black egg. Then, he clenched his fist and let out a shout, lifting the black egg directly from the ground and resting it on his right shoulder. With a few quick jumps, he leaped from the pit to the edge with a strength that belied his stature, then headed straight for his ingredients. Under the night sky, on the outskirts of District 22 of Lojia Star, no one noticed the tall figure making its way deeper into the wilderness, one hand carrying a large black egg and the other dragging a dead mutated beast.
Mu Fan suddenly looked up, as a fiery rainbow descended from the horizon, piercing through the night sky like a sword of the gods, directly striking the land of the Luojia Star
Cautiously sliding down the edge of the deep pit, Mu Fan curiously gazed at the black egg lying quietly at the bottom, taking steps closer. The occasional sparks that erupted from the black egg could not reveal its true color, as the dark, egg-shaped object, measuring over one meter in length, lay before him.
There are electrical sparks, likely from a metal object. Mu Fan casually picked up a broken branch nearby and struck it, producing a "thud" sound, indicating the presence of space inside. He touched the leaves on the collected branch, which felt warm, and remarked, "Hmm, the surface temperature of the object has already decreased."
Seeing the night as empty, the fierce impact just now had already scared away the nearby ferocious beasts. The further one goes, the more severely the trees are toppled. Mu Fan skillfully moved towards the site of the impact.
A massive cloud of smoke rose, and the flames were extinguished in the jungle. Over forty kilometers away in the urban area, people merely heard a loud bang, accustomed to the falling meteorites, and continued their indulgent nightlife
If there were people from the federal scientific laboratory present, they would undoubtedly be immensely shocked. The technology of small stationary space transfer channels is merely a field that the federation has only recently begun to explore, yet it has already been practically utilized by someone. However, all of this remains unknown to anyone.
... ...
With a sudden push, Mu Fan's explosive body sprang up from the ground, this time directly ignoring the new wounds on his body and the dirt covering him. He looked around and, fortunately, his flesh had not been blown away. Thus, he sat back down with ease.
Wait, deep in the jungle
Mufan grinned, his eyes sparkling, as he returned home to eat meat and then see what good things he had picked up. Was this a gift from the stars
Lying on the ground with my head resting on it, I gazed at the sky that had returned to its tranquility and darkness, followed immediately by a loud howl—My flesh!
He pulled out the dagger that was lodged in the neck of the mutated beast, wiping away the bloodstains on the more than two-meter-long ferocious creature, without paying any attention to the five claw marks on its back that were still oozing blood, and Mu Fan smiled broadly
"As you command, Master of the House!" The captain rose and returned to the command platform to issue orders, "Activate the jump engine at 175% power, engage the Huangchuan Iron Curtain mode, load the coordinates of Space Node No. 1, and perform coordinate vector correction. All personnel—return to base!"
Mufan merely stared blankly as the shocking fireball struck deep into the jungle
No, there is sound! A tremendous roar, reminiscent of breaking the sound barrier, suddenly descended from the sky, and the prey on the ground suddenly revealed its shadow
"What could it be, a meteorite from beyond the planets, or floating space debris?" Mu Fan's bright eyes flashed with a moment of contemplation, "Let's go take a look first, we can take it with us when we come back."
"Master, the fleet has jumped to the outer domain, and we have lost track of them! I have failed in my duties, please punish me!" On the flagship, the captain, dressed in a dark blue military uniform, knelt halfway. In front of him stood a tall middle-aged man, also in a blue military uniform, with a pair of cold and authoritative eyes behind the lenses of his glasses. The elder glanced expressionlessly at the captain kneeling before him and paused for a few seconds. "Our Huangchuan family has remained silent under the banner of the Empire for a hundred years. Amidst the open and covert struggles between the Empire and the Federation, how many once-noble families have now vanished without a trace?" The elder continued, "The imperial aristocrats have completely fallen, and the opportunity has now fallen upon us. If we do not seize it, there will be no more chances. Chuan 13, in which star system is our fleet currently located?"
"Master, we have now transitioned to the territory of the Galactic Federation and are currently situated within a small asteroid belt, undetected by the Federation's forces. Please make a decision, Master." An officer to the right of the middle-aged man swiftly operated the holographic projection, presenting a small three-dimensional map of the star system before everyone.
The smell of charred wood had already reached him. Leaping over a giant tree with a trunk as thick as an embrace, Mu Fan saw a massive pit radiating outwards like a spider's web, at the center of which lay a "black egg" that occasionally sparkled with flashes of light. Yes, it was indeed a black egg, Mu Fan confirmed his thoughts with satisfaction, though his limited knowledge made it difficult for him to find a more fitting adjective.
Mufan extended his hands, clad in fragmented leather gloves, and pressed them against the surface of the black egg, feeling the warmth radiating from his palms, slightly hot. He gently nudged it with his hand, and the black egg shifted slightly from the giant pit.
Mu Fan suddenly opened his eyes wide. When he realized that he seemed to be in danger, a fireball fell to the ground, and a shockwave formed by a violent tremor was rushing towards him from the jungle three kilometers away, toppling the trees in its path.
The recently vanished pitch-black fissure suddenly reappeared, stretching horizontally, resembling a gigantic vertical pupil. The white, eerie glow that flowed across the battleship transformed into an inky black, gradually sinking into the fissure. The vertical pupil merged, and the asteroid belt remained as silent as ever.
Crisp
At the edge of the star system, 0.7 light-years from the planet Logia, chaotic debris drifts aimlessly in the tranquil and mysterious space. Deep within the asteroid belt, a massive pitch-black rift suddenly tears through this expanse, and three heavy warships, entirely silver-white, emerge. The sleek and polished hulls bear no insignia, yet the heavy particle cannons mounted on the hulls, resembling monstrous dragons, and the densely packed, variously shaped gun barrels extending from the hull proclaim the formidable combat power of these three warships.
Mu Fan's chin, which was still hanging open, was abruptly knocked to the ground with a loud bang
My teeth, can I still eat meat? A crisp sound of teeth clashing came from beneath the broken soil, as Mu Fan forcefully shook his head from side to side. When the two shadows of trees standing at an angle merged into one, Mu Fan's mind finally regained its clarity
It seems that I have never really been full, Mu Fan squinted his eyes in nostalgia, never mind, it is more important to fill my stomach first, this little bit of food can last for a few days if I ration it. Lowering his head, he prepared to take his ingredients outside.
The heavy dark clouds of night envelop the thick space debris surrounding the planet, in the wilderness far from the urban area, at the edge of a deserted jungle, everything perfectly conceals a small event occurring on this distant planet
"Chuan Yi, rise. It should not be the Imperial Eagle's lackeys; their words will not reach the Federal Star Domain, so you can rest assured. To avoid exposing the fleet, return and expedite the preparations." The middle-aged man, referred to as the master of the house, said after a slight pause, "Return to base."
